DiceTrax Sketch

Go from a reference track to a full arrangement inside Ableton Live. DiceTrax reads the song, Sketch lays it out on your timeline.

How it works

  1. Extract stems

Pick Max quality and the new Full band+ mode: kick, drums, bass, vocal, lead, melody, pads, FX and ambient, nine stems from one song.

  2. Detect structure

DiceTrax finds the intro, verse, chorus and drop, with exact bar lengths and which stems play in every bar.

  3. Drag loops into Live

One drag drops beat-aligned loops, one per stem, into Session View. Or save the song’s layout as a Sketch template.

  4. Sketch the arrangement

In Ableton, click Prep Set, check the template, click To Arrangement. Clips, locators and a Sections track land on the timeline.

What Sketch does

39 genre templates
House, techno, trance, drum & bass, trap, drill, hip hop, pop, afrobeats, amapiano, lo-fi and more: 34 genres, always built in.
Templates from real songs
Save any analysed track as a template: its sections, its exact bar counts and which parts play when. Reuse the layout on your own loops.
Grid editor
Paint parts across bars, add or move sections, link tracks to parts and choose which Session scene each section plays.
Create Tracks
One MIDI track per unlinked part, named, coloured and linked for you, with 1 to 8 bar clips and a busier drop clip in Scene 2.
Genre-aware starter patterns
Four on the floor or half-time kicks, claps on 2 and 4, off-beat hats, bass that answers the kick, held chords and arps.
Colours and groups
Nine colour schemes plus per-part swatches. Drums and Music prefixes keep related tracks together, ready for Ctrl+G.
Re-render freely
Replace range clears the old arrangement first, so you can tweak the template and build again without cleaning up.
Saved with your Set
Mapping, options and your edited template are stored inside the Live Set, so it is all there when you reopen it.

Good to know

  • Needs Ableton Live 11 or newer with Max for Live (Live Suite, or the Max for Live add-on).
  • Live 11 cannot load instruments or create group tracks from a device, so drop a sound on each new track and press Ctrl+G to group the Drums and Music tracks.
  • Stem extraction, structure detection and loop export run in the DiceTrax desktop app for Windows.
